Formed on the 14th April 2007 we are one of the oldest kins on the server. As a result we have a wide range of players ranging from grizzled veterans of beta testing through to players who have only just joined the game. Throughout out the the life of Force of the Alliance, members and leaders have been and gone but the aims and spirit of the kin has always remained constant.
We are a smallish, casual kin made up of (mostly) mature players. We aim to provide a fun and helpful environment for players of all abilities and play style no matter how much or little you play the game in a week. With players spanning all levels and with alts being levelled you will always have someone to quest with. What you wont find is a hardcore raiding kin rushing to endgame nor will you find a power levelling service.
We will never expect a minimum time you need to play per week
There is no minimum attendance to kinship events
We do not expect you to put LotRO before Real Life
We will accommodate anyone who fits in. Even if you only play for 1 hour a week
The one thing we do ask is that members act in a responsible and mature manner.
By Mature we mean:
Will never have a go at a player based on experience/skill etc. If someone is doing something wrong help them.
Will accept and give help equally.
Behaves in kin chat. Banter is what drives the kin. Abuse will not be tolerated.
Mature means you can treat other players with respect, even to players outside the kinship. Treat others how they should be treated - with respect. If you make mistakes or upset someone, be a big enough person to say sorry.
What we can offer:
Ventrilo Server: We encourage members to use our Ventrilo servers whist grouping to make coordination and teamwork a lot easier. Especially useful when I sound the retreat It's also a great way for us to have a laugh and a banter together and has even been known to be the home of Gabe and Wendell's now infamous DJ battles!
Kinship Nights: Our kin is built around having fun together. The corner stone of this are kin nights. We hope to cater for everyone by providing a wide range of events. These range from book nights both in Moria and outside; Instance runs for the latest gear; trips to Carn Dum and Urugarth for class quest items and anything else that members want to do.
Crafting: We have SM and Kindred rated crafters in all professions who are always willing to help people out with getting their next set of gear. Please talk to them about what you require and what is needed. They aren't that scary, I promise.
Pastoral Care: We have a designated class leader for each class who will be more than happy to help new players with any aspect of the game and their class. We are also starting to run 1 to 1 sessions where high level players can help new players to get to grips with their class.
Creep Night: Tuesday night is Creep Night! We have recently started making regular trips to the Ettenmoors as creeps. This is a great way for us all to do something as a kin no matter what a players level. So far we have had great fun, though as our creeps are fairly new we are not providing much opposition to the Freeps
Kinship Lottery: Monthly Kin Lottery open to all members. Also provides funds for upkeep of our beautiful kin hall.
Conga: Where else on the server will you find the famous FotA Conga. Whether it be from Bree to Angmar or seeing out the end of SoA, if there is a conga to be seen you can guarantee we will be at the fore!
What we are looking for:
Being a casual kin we don't have any strict entry requirements regarding a players class; level, ability and play time. Or we ask of you are two things. Firstly, a sense of humour and fun is a must. The conversations on kin chat and Ventrilo can often become a little silly to say the least, but then which kin's doesn't? Secondly and most importantly, we require a willingness to help others. Our kin is founded on the value that everyone will help everyone else to enjoy the game. This can be in the form of advice, crafting, or questing help. This way no one will go unloved and unhelped
The Kin and you:
Our Kin is a close group, so we share our resources. We have a kinship vault and we collect unwanted trade goods, trophies and recipes. We expect you to equally give and take to this bank.
If you are new to MMO's we do expect you to be open minded. Everyone at some point needs to learn how to play their role in a team. Our Kinship has plenty of advice to offer on how to do this.
We expect you to follow the terms and conditions of play - also we expect you to report any gold farmers/sellers you come across.
We host kinship events - which we hope you will join us on. We also have a Ventrilo server which is not compulsory.
We want you to join and become a true key member our our kinship.
Leadership:
The kinship is lead by a officer team. The Officer team has plenty of experience of MMO's. Be this experience of class roles, organizing groups, leading raid/fellowships or organizing kinship services like bank/Ventrilo. Therefore generally speaking we know what we are doing! Admittedly what we know may know is probably wrong...
Should you have any problems, need help, have any suggestions or feedback on the kin then the officer team is your first port of call.
Our officers endeavour to host and organise kinship events, which we hope many of you will attend. We also encourage all our members to organise events as well.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch either on the forums or in game.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to seeing you in Middle-Earth.
